Steptoe and Son
A father and son who work as rag-and-bone men live together in Shepherd's Bush, London. While Albert is content with their way of life, Harold aspires to better himself and build a life of his own, but his attempts are repeatedly thwarted by his father, leading to frequent clashes between the two.

Marriage, politics and the possibility of a life beyond Oil Drum Lane bring new tensions between the Steptoes. Their business and home life also become increasingly complicated as Harold tries to move forward while Albert remains resistant to change.

Harold invites the local Labour Party organizer to a meeting, hoping they will adopt him as their candidate for the next election. Albert, who supports the Tories, plans to thwart his ambitions.

Harold takes Albert on a trip to France to see the battlefields of the First World War. But as soon as the plane has takes off, he starts arguing with an American passenger about their involvement in the conflict.
