A space colony family struggles to survive when their ship is hopelessly thrown off course.

The space family Robinson is sent on a five-year mission to find a new planet to colonise. The voyage is sabotaged time and again by an inept stowaway, Dr. Zachary Smith. The family's spaceship, Jupiter II, also carries a friendly robot who endures an endless stream of abuse from Dr. Smith, but is a trusted companion of young Will Robinson

    October 16, 1997. The Robinsons become America's first family in space as part of an effort to colonize the Alpha Centauri star system. Their space ship, the "Gemini 12", runs into a meteor shower and goes off course, crashing on an uncharted planet. The Robinsons must deal with adversities such as a giant cyclops, earthquakes, and extreme cold. They also discover the remains of an ancient civilization in a cave.
