Video Music Channel Special
The Video Music Channel was an early Atlanta-based cable network which ran from 1980 to 1984 with a focus on music videos. Predating MTV by a yearm the cable channel once covered over 40 markets at its peak in 1982, including Chicago. It provided a somewhat broader array of music compared to what MTV would originally play, most notably black artists. Unfortunately, having just eight hours daily until expanding to 24/7 about a year following MTV's launch in 1981, along with the much more pervasive promotion of MTV, led to the channel's demise. This clip, from the waning days of the network in the summer of 1984, was a special presentation on new wave artist Adam and the Ants, including an exclusive interview with Adam Ant himself. Also includes commercials for Coke, Diet Sprite, and more.
