The Sniper is a 1952 American film noir directed by Edward Dmytryk. The screenplay was written by Harry Brown, based on a story by Edna and Edward Anhalt. The film features a notable cast including Adolphe Menjou, Arthur Franz, Gerald Mohr, Marie Windsor, and Richard Kiley. The film follows Eddie Miller, portrayed by Arthur Franz, a troubled man who harbors a deep-seated hatred for women. This animosity leads him to embark on a killing spree, targeting women from a distance with a sniper rifle. In a desperate attempt to be caught, he writes an anonymous letter to the police, pleading for them to stop him.
