Marilu Henner, promoting CBS's Evening Shade, is revealed to have a fangirl crush on Sting, which she displays during her interview, while seated next to the rock star. Leno even has her introduce Sting's second number.3. This episode of The Tonight Show aired not only two weeks before Leno marked one year since taking over from Carson, but aired more than a month before David Letterman's last Late Night on NBC. The latter is of interest since during the last commerical break, just before Stephen Baldwin's interview, there is a brief promo featuring the guy who had just been named as Letterman's successor on NBC, A then unknown Conan O'Brien.
