The Flapper
A Southern teen at a ritzy boarding school gets into mischief while acting the sophisticated grownup to impress a suave gentleman and match wits with a pair of jewel thieves.
From the archive
I've been researching newly public domain films from 1929 and earlier, so I'm uploading the best possible copies that I can find. The first film in the United States to portray the flapper subculture, The Flapper is also noteworthy for being one of the final films that Olive Thomas led in before her untimely poisoning death. While the ending of the film was criticized, for the most part the film was critically acclaimed, especially for Ms. Thomas' role. I wasn't able to find a soundtrack for this film that I was satisfied with. I therefore took the opportunity to create one using public domain jazz, folk and blues from this time period. I labeled the video as "FourTL Edition" due to this.
