THE DIARY OF VALERIA
"WHAT KEEPS ME GOING IS THE HOPE THAT'S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF MY ANXIETIES." This experimental short film is an adaptation of the fictional main character’s diary entry. This diary, belonging to a transgender woman named Valeria, deals with personal and existential anxieties about her body. *Note: This film centers an assault that is not shown on camera* In her first short film, Athena Jey dives into personal and traumatic experiences in an attempt to explore isolation and gender dysphoria. Using sound, silence and herself as the main character, The Diary of Valeria is heartbreaking yet hopeful film on trying to put yourself back together after tragedy and trauma.
