The 6th Annual National Songwriter Awards
Barbara Eden and Roy Clark host this sixth annual presentation from the Nashville Performing Arts Center, awarding the best songwriters in the categories of traditional ballad, contemporary ballad, traditonal upbeat, contemporary upbeat, country-rock, comedy-novelty, and movie songs of the year, mostly in the field of the country genre as chosen from the subscribers of Music City News magazine. Other performers include Vince Gill, Lee Greenwood, Waylon Jennings, Ronnie McDowell, The Oak Ridge Boys, Nicolette Larson, Ray Stevens, and The Bill Walker Orchestra. Includes commercial breaks as recorded off KOKH in Oklahoma City, intersting including one for MTV which the closest it got to "country" on its rotation was John Cougar Mellencamp.
