Street Angel
A spirited young woman finds herself destitute and on the streets before joining a traveling carnival, where she meets a vagabond painter.
From the archive
I've been researching newly public domain films from 1929 and earlier, so I'm uploading the best possible copies that I can find. Nominee of three Academy Awards, with lead Janet Gaynor taking the award for best actress, Street Angel is about a young woman who turns to crime to help her ailing mother. After she is caught, she escapes and joins a traveling circus, though it seems as if the law isn't far behind.
Why this is free to watch
Street Angel (1928) is hosted by the Internet Archive as a public-domain or openly licensed work, which means its copyright has expired, lapsed, or was released by the rights holder. The uploader declared an explicit licence, linked in the source panel. Nitrate streams the file directly from the Archive and hosts no video itself.
