Zinwrath The Movie
The first joint creation from Dementia Myndflame. A movie based off of World of Warcraft.
From the archive
"Zinwrath: The Movie" was one of the first World of Warcraft-based movies to push post-production of MMO machinima significantly beyond editing of screen captures. Myndflame's project did not yet make use of software that exported models and maps from the game, such as WoW Model Viewer or WoW MapView, but instead relied on manual techniques that nonetheless made fast-paced visual effect possible, such as compositing and overlays of shots. For example, Myndflame "hand cut" character graphics from video captures and composited them on top of environments shot inside the game, meshed together several shots of the same scene, or set cropped images over a visual background to simulate movement. Effects such as these can be seen in scenes such as Zinwrath's explanation of the summoning of Basutei or Dirti G.'s rant. "Zinwrath: The Movie" was among the five winners of the 2005 Blizzcon World of Warcraft movie contest. -- HEL, with information from Clint "Gobbler" Hackleman of Myndflame.
