"Hunde, wollt ihr ewig leben" (translated as "Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever?") is a German war film from 1959, directed by Peter M. Krüger. The film is based on the novel of the same name by M. A. Roth and deals with the experiences of a German soldier unit during World War II. The story follows Lieutenant Gerd Wisse, played by Joachim Hansen, as he navigates the chaos and brutality of the Stalingrad battle in 1942. Throughout the film, Wisse faces the grim realities of warfare, grappling with the ideologies that drive soldiers like him. The narrative highlights the despair and disillusionment prevalent among the troops.
