Lu Ryden backstage at the Circle Star Theatre on KNTV
Two series of outtakes and interviews conducted by KNTV host and reporter Lu Ryden at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos, California, in 1967.The first reel contains silent footage of Durante, an unidentified man, and Goodman; as well as sound interviews with Peggy Lee, the King Family singers, an exotic dancer, and actor Hugh O'Brien. Peggy Lee talks about how long it takes for her to develop an act, and who designs her gowns. The King family talk about their transportation to the venue and what it's like traveling with children. The exotic dancer, known as the Goddess of Fire because she is 6' 2" and does a fire dance as part of her act, discusses how she got started and how she puts together her act. O'Brien talks about filming Ten Little Indians in Ireland, and the Music Man opening at the Circle Star. In the second reel, comedian Jimmy Durante (silent), singer Peggy Lee, musician Benny Goodman, and Jane Powell are filmed backstage. Part of a collection of films from Lu Ryden's shows and interviews on KNTV between 1965-1970. The original films are part of History San Jose's permanent collection.
