Lu Ryden hosts KNTV Channel 11 Afternoon show circa
Three segments from Lu Ryden's KNTV Channel 11 San Jose Afternoon show, in which women undergo makeovers through a week-long course at the Fisher School of Finishing. Each woman is shown on stage in her "before" look, with a voice over explaining why she wants to be "Cinderella." The woman then reappears in her new look and talks about how she feels. The hairstyles were done by Amy's Beauty Salon; the clothes came from Valley Fair Mall. Each woman receives a gift card for dinner for two at Waikiki Village. In the first show, Ryden is in a second clip with her co-host, preparing hors d'oeuvres using Pepperidge Farm bread and an assortment of spreads, including Underwood meats. She jokes about using the screen door for a flour sifter and putting wet galoshes in the bathtub to dry. The clips are part of a collection of Lu Ryden's KNTV shows and interviews; the originals are part of History San Jose's permanent collection (Catalog No. 2023-17).
