Lu Ryden hosts KNTV Channel 11's Afternoon program in San Jose on or around September 23, 1965. 1. Ryden reads two news stories: a) Michael Boyer, son of Charles Boyer, has died in Beverly Hills; b) Salvation Army plans to protest topless performers in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. 2. Ryden and her co-host interview Pat Boone, who is starring in West Side Story at the Circle Star Theater. At the end of the interview they present him with a box of KarmelKorn they say is from a San Jose company. 3. Ryden presents an advertisement for a new apartment complex on Henderson Avenue in Sunnyvale, including stills of the apartment interiors. These clips are part of a collection of KNTV programs and interviews by Ryden in the late 1960s. The original films are held in History San Jose's permanent collection (Catalog No. 2023-17).
