This film was produced by the University of Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station in the 1940's as part of a study of different hay harvesting techniques. This film and two others, The Buck Rake, Wind Stackers, and Field Chopper in use and Using the One-Man Pickup Baler, were preserved in 2008 thanks to a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation.
