Half Shot at Sunrise
Two soldiers go absent without leave in Paris during World War I.
From the archive
I've been researching newly public domain films from 1929 and earlier, so I'm uploading the best possible copies that I can find. The second film together for comedy duo Wheeler and Woolsey, Half Shot at Sunrise follows two soldiers who impersonate superior officers to pick up girls. The soundtrack for this film was the first to be scored by Max Steiner, who would go on to write music for films like Casablanca, King Kong, and many more.
Why this is free to watch
Half Shot at Sunrise (1930) is hosted by the Internet Archive as a public-domain or openly licensed work, which means its copyright has expired, lapsed, or was released by the rights holder. The uploader declared an explicit licence, linked in the source panel. Nitrate streams the file directly from the Archive and hosts no video itself.
