Evangeline
A young Acadian woman spends years searching for her lost love after the two are separated and forcibly relocated by the British.
From the archive
I've been researching newly public domain films from 1929 and earlier, so I'm uploading the best possible copies that I can find. Dolores del Rio stars in this romantic tragedy about a woman who searches years and across a continent to try to find her lost lover, though seemingly she is always just a little too late to catch up. While there is no spoken dialogue, there is an attached soundtrack, with Rio singing near the end of the picture.
Why this is free to watch
Evangeline (1929) is hosted by the Internet Archive as a public-domain or openly licensed work, which means its copyright has expired, lapsed, or was released by the rights holder. The uploader declared an explicit licence, linked in the source panel. Nitrate streams the file directly from the Archive and hosts no video itself.
