It's noteworthy that Jackie is indeed playing a real character here, rather than a nameless thug in the background, but I was a bit disappointed that he didn't have more spectacular fight scenes. This is a pretty gritty film set in the time of the Japanese occupation and comes with a lot of the patriotism & anti-Japanese racism that's part of Chinese all movies about this era (to this day). It has a few decent moments and some violence and especially the final fight scene is pretty entertaining, but it's also too dull at times. It would probably help if this got an HD upgrade, because my copy had pretty bad quality, looked zoomed-in and had a bunch of missing frames, so that makes it a bit harder to enjoy any movie.
