Disraeli
Prime Minister of Great Britain Benjamin Disraeli outwits the subterfuge of the Russians and chicanery at home in order to secure the purchase of the Suez Canal.
From the archive
I've been researching newly public domain films from 1929 and earlier, so I'm uploading the best possible copies that I can find. George Arliss was the first British actor to win an Academy Award for his role in this historical drama. The film also received two other nominations for best writing and best picture. For the most part Disraeli was a picture designed around Arliss's performance, and that is what is most effective in the film.
Why this is free to watch
Disraeli (1929) is hosted by the Internet Archive as a public-domain or openly licensed work, which means its copyright has expired, lapsed, or was released by the rights holder. The uploader declared an explicit licence, linked in the source panel. Nitrate streams the file directly from the Archive and hosts no video itself.
