The film begins with the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville on the moors of Devonshire. His death evokes the legend of a ghostly hound that is said to haunt the Baskerville family. Concerned that the curse may strike again, family friend Dr. James Mortimer recruits Sherlock Holmes to investigate.
