America Picks The 1 Songs
On May 28, 1986, ABC presented this special where in addition to a standard reportire of performers singing various Billboard #1 hits since the beginning of the "Rock Era", viewers could pick up the phone and dial a 900 number to vote for their favorite song that topped the Hot 100 in three different divisions, each consisting of five songs within each of the three decades of the Rock Era (1955-65, 1965-75, and 1975-85). With Barbara Mandrell hosting (ironically, who only had #1 songs on the Hot Country Singles chart) with special appearances by Dick Clark, Tony Orlando, and Frankie Avalon, performing guests include The Four Tops, Mr. Mister, Toni Basil, Petula Clark, Air Supply, the Kingston Trio, Roberta Flack, and Frankie Valli.
