Fritz Lang's ironic film noir of a middle-age man's obsessive involvement with an alluring young woman. Strong performances by Bennett, Duryea and especially Edward G Robinson. Inspired by Jean Renoir's 1931 film "La Chienne." (Not related to D W Griffith's 1919 film "Scarlet Street.") Directed by Fritz Lang. Released in 1945. Complete print. TRIVIA; The twelve paintings John Decker made for this film were later exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art.
