When he swaps horses with the Tombstone Kid — a wrongly accused man on the run from the law — singing cowboy Tex Randall gets arrested by the local sheriff in a case of mistaken identity.

Tex Randall (Tex Ritter) gets arrested for murder and horse rustling but it's all a case of mistaken identity. The town's big-shot gets him off the hook and offers a horse-trading deal to Tex with the intention of double crossing him just like he did the Tombstone Kid (Archie Ricks).
