The Word is Out
"The Word is Out" made television history as the first LGBT news/variety show to serve the Rochester, NY community. These two shows aired, respectively, in May & June 1994 on RCTV Channel 15 in Rochester, NY. The May program features reports on the Domestic Partnership vote by the Rochester City Council with an announcement from Mayor Bill Johnson; tax tips for gays; a report of a hate crime incident at SUNY Brockport; the touring display of part of the AIDS Quilt. The June program features the announcement of a third party candidate for governor of NYS; a meeting with the steering committee of GAGV's annual LGBT picnic; tending the AIDS Remembrance Garden; coverage of the AIDSWalk 1994; and a Interfaith Memorial Service for gay Holocaust victims with the Rochester Gay Mens Chorus.
