BloodSpell

20065m6.0(2)240p

It is a story of a world where men and women carry magic in their blood, and spilling it can unleash terrible power. Where these "Blooded" hide in fetid slums from the Church of the Angels, commanded by their divine masters to "cleanse" the Blood Magic. Where choices are fraught, alliances rarely safe, and blood is all. A young monk named Jered flees the Church when his own Blood Magic is released. Now he must survive the pursuit of the Church, the gladiatorial pits of the Blooded underground, and the hidden truths of the ancient struggle. The choices he makes will tip the balance of the war between Church and Blooded, and change his world forever.

This is the third of a series of documentaries about the making of BloodSpell, the hit Machinima series of 2006, now also available as a feature film. In this documentary, Lead Animator Justin Hall talks about the animation process for BloodSpell, and shows the stages of animation production for the epic film. BloodSpell is the unique animated "punk fantasy" feature film by Machinima pioneers Strange Company, made available in its entirety for viewing online under Creative Commons. In the world of BloodSpell, some people are infected with magic in their blood. When that blood is spilled, the magic is released, to harm or heal. When Jered, a young monk trained to hunt the Blooded, realises he has magic in his own blood, he must flee into the slums and magical hideouts of the Blooded, pursued by the Church of the Angels who trained him. "There's some damned fine storytelling and editing/production work here" - Cory Doctorow, author and blogger "Blood, Angels and loads of vicious smiting: what more could you ask for?" - Alan Campbell, author of Scar Night. ""A movie that defies most of the rules of traditional film-making." - The Guardian
