Public Domain Mark 1.0 1986 SYNOPSIS: 1986 Jan O1 Released from his holy vow of celibacy, Jeremy was free to be with Erica. At the same time, Natalie learned that she was pregnant -- with Alex's child. But Natalie had a plan that, if it worked, could get her the man she wanted - Jeremy. One night, she got Jeremy drunk and slipped into bed, beside his sleeping body. The next morning, Natalie managed to convince Jeremy that they had made love. During a fox hunt, Alex Hunter fell off his horse and died. At first, Alex's death looked innocent enough, but when it was discovered that the foot strap of his saddle had been cut, the killer was revealed to be young Andrew Cortlandt, who attempted to sabotage Ross Chandler's polo mount. At the last minute, Alex and Ross switched horses, and Alex, with his weakened heart, fell to his death. Alex Hunter's death gave a pregnant Natalie renewed vigor in her pursuit of Jeremy, who was now engaged to Erica. "I'm pregnant with your baby." Natalie told a stunned Jeremy, who married her. However, the marriage was invalid, since Erica hired a phony minister to preside over the ceremony. Meanwhile, another doctor, the enchanting Amy Stone, became interested in Cliff. Nina, after a short affair with Benny Sago, left town for a while. With Nina gone, Cliff pledged his love to Dr. Stone. When Nina returned, Nina began to date Matt Connelly. Cliff and Amy decided to spend a weekend on Martha's Vineyard, as did Nina. After Amy's arrival was delayed, Cliff and Nina met accidentally on the beach and shared a romantic afternoon filled with laughs, tears, and joy. Going their separate ways, both Nina and Cliff refused to admit the obvious -- they were still very much in love. When Amy and Cliff announced their engagement plans, Nina stoically congratulated them. When Nina broke up with Matt, Matt angrily confronted Cliff. "Don't you see, man? Nina loves you. And it's clear to anyone with two eyes that you feel the same way about her." Matt's words hit home. Realizing the depth of his feelings for Nina, Cliff couldn't bear to go through with his marriage to a woman he didn't love. Gently, he broke the news to Amy. Deeply upset, Amy ran out in the street and was tragically struck down by a drunken driver Fortunately, Nina was there to pick up the pieces of Cliff's shattered life. After reuniting in Maine, Cliff and Nina became engaged to marry for the third time. They were joyfully re-wed, just prior to year-end. Soon after their spectacular black-and-white wedding, Cliff departed for a special medical mission in Hong Kong, promising Nina he'd be back soon. On Valentine's Day, the guests gathered at the church for Tad and Hillary's wedding. The bride was there. The best man was in attendance. So were the ushers and the maid of honor. But where, in heaven's name, was the groom? Lucky for him, Tad's wedding day absence was not his fault. That morning, robbers had ransacked the bank where he worked, locking Tad and Robin McCall in the vault. When the calamity was cleared up, Tad and Hillary were married in a simple ceremony at the Wallingford Mansion. In 1986, Pine Valley mourned the passing of Dr. Charles Tyler, who had devoted the last years of his life to charitable work and, of course, his loving wife, Mona. Greg Nelson left town, and a newcomer arrived. She was Julie Rand, a spunky young girl who was adopted by newlyweds Ross Chandler and Ellen Dalton. While stranded on a private island together, Jeremy delivered Natalie's son, Timothy. The ever-devious Adam Chandler rigged a paternity test to prove that Jeremy was the father. But the the deception was discovered and Natalie was forced to confess that Alex , not Jeremy, was the true father. Although Jeremy settled an impressive sum on Natalie, she went to work as a nurse for Palmer, whom had been paralyzed after being shot by a thug who worked for Adam. Natalie's presence inside Corltandt Manor was just the situation that the competitive Adam relished. So he paid Natalie to spy on Palmer. Mark Dalton, who had spiraled downward since the failure of his marriage to Ellen, was now a drug addict. To complicate matters, he had been having an affair with a married woman whose jealous husband, Earl Mitchell, came gunning for him. Jeremy was arrested for the crime of killing Earl, for which he was really not responsible. Still, Jeremy was sent to jail. In the slammer, he was also severely beaten, and this incident petrified Erica. She had to get him out of jail!! Erica made plans to marry Jeremy in prison, but she also secretly schemed to break him out of jail during the ceremony -- by helicopter. However, the ever noble Jeremy chose to remain behind and was eventually freed when Mark Dalton was charged (and was eventually cleared) with Earl Mitchell's death. Erica and Jeremy broke up. Tad and Hillary's new marriage was immediately unsettled by the arrival of beautiful young singer, Skye Patterson, who was later revealed to be Adam Chandler's long-lost daughter. Skye seductively tempted Tad and infuriated Hillary with her brazen flirtations. A slick con young man named Wade Mathews, slithered into Pine Valley, setting his sights on rich dowager, Phoebe Tyler Wallingford. In swift fashion, wily Wade succeeded in splitting up Phoebe and Langley, then lured the former Mrs. Wallingford to the Caribbean where, in a drunken stupor, she became his wife! But eventually his scam was exposed and Langley and Phoebe reconciled. When Tad and Hillary's marriage fell apart, Tad decided to leave Pine Valley. heading west to Hollywood, CA ** As with the 1984 synopsis and the 1985 synopsis, I own zero rights to the1986 Synopsis.
