The Mysterious Island
1865, The American Civil War: Five POW manage to escape by balloon from Fort Richmond. Caught in a storm and with the balloon damaged they find themselves 'shipwrecked' on a volcanic desert island somewhere in the Pacific. Just before crash landing their leader, the brilliant engineer Cyrus Smith falls to his apparent death in the raging waters, but later turns up completely unharmed and with no memory of how he was saved. His fellow castaways are: the famous journalist Gedeon Spilett, the salty sailor Bonaventure Pencroff, the orphaned boy Harbert Brown and the black servant of Smith, Nab. The dog Top also joined them in the escape.

Premier épisode de L'Île mystérieuse, mini-série hispano-franco-italienne réalisée par Juan Antonio Bardem et Henri Colpi en 1973.Durant la guerre de Sécession, un groupe de Nordistes de différentes origines parvient à s'échapper de Richmond assiégé à bord d'un ballon. Mais pris dans une tempête, l'aérostat est entraîné très loin des terres, au dessus de l'océan Pacifique et finit par s'écraser sur une île déserte. Malheureusement, l'un des passagers, l'ingénieur Cyrus Smith, tombe du ballon loin de la côte et ses compagnons d'infortune le croient mort. Mais sous la mer, de mystérieux personnages récupèrent le naufragé et le placent dans un caisson étanche. Alors que ses compagnons cherchent son corps sur la plage, ils sont tout surpris de le retrouver indemne, mais amnésique, dans une petite grotte. Assez rapidement, les naufragés de l'air vont constater qu'ils ne sont pas seuls sur cette île et qu'il y a un territoire qui leur est totalement interdit...Mini-série hispano-franco-italienne réalisée par Juan Antonio Bardem et Henri Colpi en 1973.
